G3 was retained by the non-profit group Hudson River Fishermen’s Association to create a concept design and site master plan for a new headquarters building and museum/learning center. The new building concept is proposed for a site on the NJ side of the Hudson River, approximately 5 miles north of the George Washington Bridge. HRFA envisions a multi-functional building that will display artifacts related to Hudson River fishing, indoor and outdoor classroom space for teaching children how to fish, and flexible/convertible space for association meetings and special events. The design will incorporate the ruins of a former bath house that dates to the 1920s. The existing 9’H stone foundation walls provide character and visual connection to the dramatic natural setting in the shadow of the Palisades cliffs. The design accentuates these features and includes a prominent roof profile for distinction and long-range visibility from the water.
