This “back office” space supports a very high density of employees without succumbing to a relentless “sardines in a can” atmosphere. Higher than normal ceilings aided in that pursuit, with gently lit coves defining circulation spaces and creating natural wayfinding. Lounges and equipment spaces are intermingled throughout the open area. Food service spaces combined with casual seating are located at the windows to promote congregation and collaboration, as well as escape from the hustle and bustle of the wide open workspace. An unusual building feature, a large skylight, provided a natural location to create a hub for a variety of meetings spaces and a lounge. These spaces were developed with a glass skin and glowing interior walls to act as a natural beacon on the floor, reinforcing orientation in the large space.
